USFSM is an institution where the faculty, students and staff actively engage in research – research that matters to the education of the student, serves as an economic engine for the community and contributes to solutions for some of our most challenging local and global problems. These research topics connect the university with local arts communities, business leaders, civic groups, schools, correctional facilities, law enforcement and other organizations. Research-engaged students become critical thinkers, creative problem solvers and highly professional workers.

One benefit of small class sizes is the relationship you can forge with your professors. Those relationships can turn into one-on-one research opportunities and directed studies. In addition to earning college credit, these initiatives will set you apart in your industry, build your résumé and potentially lead to publication credit, academic conference presentations and broader recognition.
USF Sarasota-Manatee is pleased to announce the publication of our first annual research magazine, Research: USFSM. Learn more about our local and global research impact by reading the first volume below.
USFSM's Office of Research partners with faculty to identify funding opportunities, support the proposal development process and manage grants.

Scholarships and funding are an essential aspect of the research process. We’re here to help by providing up-to-date funding opportunities for student and faculty researchers that are ready to make a difference.
