Risk Management and Insurance
College of Business
“It seems to be a law of nature, inflexible and inexorable, that those who will not risk cannot win.”
— John Paul Jones
A new major at USFSM, the Risk Management & Insurance (RMI) program is one of only two such programs offered by public universities in the state of Florida. The RMI program at USF Sarasota-Manatee prepares emerging leaders focused on risk analysis, underwriting, wealth management and other critical areas within the global financial industry.
The program focuses on property and casualty insurance principles as well as health insurance and wealth management. One key aspect of the RMI degree is a robust internship program that offers students the opportunity to learn from industry leaders in the Sarasota-Manatee area. Risk management is a great career for someone who’s detail oriented and has critical-thinking skills, a thirst for knowledge and learning, and a willingness to dig deeper to find extra answers.
