Core Curriculum Coordinator/Instructor

Dr. Phillip Wagner is the Director of General Education, Core Curriculum Coordinator, and Chair of the Chancellor’s Advisory Council on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Dr. Wagner also serves as a faculty instructor in the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences. Receiving his Ph.D. in Communication Studies at the University of Kansas, Dr. Wagner brings an award-winning record of research, administration, teaching, and service. At USFSM, Dr. Wagner helps ensure USFSM’s Core Curriculum and General Education programs equip students to succeed in the global workforce. As Chair of the Diversity Council, Dr. Wagner also helps ensure that USFSM is a university committed to best practices in inclusivity and a welcoming environment for all. His research has been featured in top journals, such as Communication Quarterly, The International Journal of Men’s Health, The Journal of Applied Communication Research, and Women & Language, as well as through other platforms, such as TEDx, UN Women, and the USF Bay to Bay Learning Symposium. As an administrator and instructor, Dr. Wagner is passionate about increasing our diversity and inclusion efforts and ensuring that USFSM continues to thrive as a welcoming, safe, and diverse institution.
