Friday, September 12th 2014 is the last day for students to notify the symposium coordinator, Dr. Kim Badanich (firstname.lastname@example.org) of their intent to submit an abstract.
Before this time, students planning on participating should have selected a USFSM Faculty member as a mentor and began their project.
The 2014 Student Research Symposium is an opportunity for USFSM students to present research,learn from peers and network with USFSM Faculty members. Graduate and undergraduate students from all USFSM Colleges (Arts & Sciences, Business, Education, Hospitality & Technology Leadership) are encouraged to submit an abstract describing their research results or art project.
1. Any USFSM undergraduate or graduate student can apply.
2.To participate, students must be registered for classes during the Spring 2014 semester.
3. Applicants must have a USFSM mentor to sponsor their submission.
4. USF Tampa and USF St. Petersburg students may also participate if they have USFSM Faculty sponsor their work. Students from affiliate campuses will be judged in a separate category and will only be eligible for merit awards.
ACCEPTED SUBMISSION TYPES
All submissions require a 250 word abstract (see symposium website for instructions). A panel of faculty reviewers will evaluate submissions based on the project’s significance within its academic discipline. An example of the scoring rubric can be viewed on the symposium website. Based on these reviews, the panel will select and invite students to present their work as a poster presentation. A select few will be asked to give an oral presentation.
