USFSM NEWS

Audience:

External media outlets; current and prospective students and their families; current and prospective faculty and staff; alumni; donors; community leaders; CLC, Campus Board and other friends of the university.

Purpose:

The USFSM News website serves as the primary source of university news and information.

Content:

Major, big-picture news articles and feature stories produced by Communications and Marketing team members.

Submission Guidelines:

To submit content for USFSM News, please note the following guidelines:

  • Compose an email to Charlie Terenzio (cterenzi@sar.usf.edu) outlining the Who, What, Where, When, Why and How of the story with as much detail as possible.
  • Include contact information for the person who can provide additional details and a quote for the story.
  • Provide a suitable digital photo for this story or indicate that one needs to be taken by Communications & Marketing
  • Let us know the internal and external audiences for the story.

Deadline for Submission:

Submit tips to Communications and Marketing at least two weeks in advance of any deadlines associated with the story.


INSIDE USFSM

Audience:

USF Sarasota-Manatee faculty, staff, students, CLC and Campus Board.

Purpose:

The Inside USFSM monthly e-newsletter serves as the primary source of news and information for all university employees. Inside USFSM is published at the end of each month.

Content:

Information of interest to the employees and students of USFSM, provided by  the university’s senior administrative offices including the Chancellor’s Office;  Business and Finance; Human Resources; Public Safety; Research and Innovation; Advancement; Student Affairs; Student Government; University Communications and Marketing; and Information Technology.

Examples of types of stories accepted:

  • Faculty, Staff and Student accomplishments, including published research and media interviews; prestigious appointments
  • Faculty, staff or student news and announcements, such as:
    • Upcoming events
    • New hires and promotions
    • Departing faculty and staff announcements
    • Faculty publications
    • Student job announcements
    • Department updates or news
    • Links to media stories

USFSM e-NEWS

Audience:

USF Sarasota-Manatee faculty, staff, students, alumni, existing donors, community members, prospective students, parents, CLC, campus board and friends of the university.

Purpose:

The e-News is used to inform all USFSM audiences of the major happenings within the university on a monthly basis, and to encourage them to get involved in new ways. The e-NEWS is distributed the first week of each month.

Content:

The most interesting, high-impact news, features, announcements and events from USF Sarasota-Manatee. Geared to an external audience; informing the public about what is happening at USFSM.

Submission Guidelines:

To submit content for USFSM News, please note the following guidelines:

  • Compose an email to Charlie Terenzio (cterenzi@sar.usf.edu) outlining the Who, What, Where, When, Why and How of the story with as much detail as possible.
  • Provide a suitable digital photo for this story or indicate that one needs to be taken by Communications & Marketing

USFSM CALENDAR OF EVENTS

Audience:

Current USFSM students, alumni, community members, prospective students, faculty, staff, parents of USFSM students and friends of the university.

Purpose:

To promote major USFSM-sponsored events that are open to the public, and to inform the community about important university dates and deadlines.

Content:

Admission, registration, financial aid and other important university dates and deadlines; university holidays and breaks; major USFSM-sponsored events that are open to the public, such as commencement, homecoming, open lectures, performances and networking events; USF Board of Trustees, USFSM Campus Board, and USFSM Community Leadership Council meetings and search committee meetings—which are open to the public and required by law to be posted; infrastructure maintenance information from Facilities Planning, Parking & Transportation Services and Information Technology.

Submission Guidelines:

Anyone can submit an event to the calendar by emailing Charlie Terenzio (cterenzi@sar.usf.edu). The content manager reviews the request and reserves the right to deny any event posting at any time.

Submission Deadlines:

Content must be submitted at least three business days prior to display date on the calendar, but for the best results please submit event and deadline dates as soon as they are finalized.


USFSM SOCIAL MEDIA

Audience:

Current and Prospective USFSM students and parents, faculty, staff, alumni, donors, media outlets and fans of USF Sarasota-Manatee.

Content:

Interesting and engaging content; upcoming events; news and announcements, and promotional contests. This represents the primary vehicle to interact and engage with all USFSM audiences. Dynamic photos, video and branded content designed to drive traffic back to USFSM.edu. A forum to answer questions from the public and to inform in an immediate scenario. Comments, shares, likes and feedback are encouraged.

Submission Guidelines:

Provide information to Charlie Terenzio (cterenzi@sar.usf.edu) by email. Explain what you would like posted. If you would like a graphic included submit two weeks prior. Most social media posts will be developed from other submitted news stories and events.

Submission Deadlines:

Provide information to Charlie a week in advance of when you would like it posted.


EXTERNAL MONITORS

Audience:

The general public.

Purpose:

To inform the general public of upcoming events and deadlines and to publically thank supporters and donors.

Content:

Deadlines, upcoming public events and thank you messages. Very abbreviated messages, key dates and reminders.

Submission Guidelines:

Email your message to Charlie Terenzio (cterenzi@sar.usf.edu).

Submission Deadlines:

Two weeks prior to when you need the message posted. Due to limited space, USFSM Communications and Marketing reserves the right to deny any request for external monitors.


INTERNAL MONITORS

Audience:

USFSM Faculty, Staff, Students and visitors.

Purpose:

To inform students, faculty, staff and visitors of upcoming deadlines and events and to welcome visitors to campus.

Submission Guidelines:

To submit content for the internal monitors, request a template from Charlie Terenzio (cterenzi@sar.usf.edu), fill in information and return.

Submission Deadlines:

Submit two days before you need the slide posted.
