What is an internship?
Internships provide work experience related to your major. The following programs offer internships for credit Business, Criminology, Information Technology, Interdisciplinary Social Sciences, Hospitality Management, Leadership, and Professional & Technical Writing. Career Services can assist you with finding an internship; however, you must work with your professor to ensure you are meeting academic requirements. Internships are proven to increase an applicant’s chance of securing employment faster and earning a higher wage than applicants without an internship or experience in the field.
Internships for Credit
Who is eligible to participate?
Juniors must be officially admitted to the University on a degree seeking basis and have declared a major. Students who have completed a minimum of six credit hours at USF Sarasota-Manatee with a grade point average of 2.50 or greater may begin the application process of securing an internship. Employers prefer interns to participate during their last semester before graduation. An internship is not a career decision making tool. If you are still undecided about your future, we recommend that you take the steps to make an informed career decision.
It is the responsibility of the International student to check with the International Student and Scholar Services to make sure you are eligible to participate in a paid or unpaid internship off campus.
