Veterans honored in ceremony at USF Sarasota-Manatee

The University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee held their Veteran’s Day Ceremony recently.  The ceremony began with a Presentation of Colors by the Sarasota Military Academy Color Guard and COL. Mike Ryan.  Darren Gambrell from the Office of  Student Affairs was a Combat Engineer in the Army and led the participants in the Pledge of Allegiance and the Invocation by Reverend Dee Graham followed.  Ross Alander, a Professor in the College of Business, served as a Combat Engineer in Vietnam and was the Master of Ceremonies.  An address titled “Never Forget” was presented by Sean Abene, a senior at USFSM majoring in Information Technology.  Sean is a Technical Sergeant in the Air National Guard and recently reenlisted for another 3 year term of service.  Robert Parker Fondes who is involved with the Lifelong Learning Academy at USFSM and was a Control Tower Operator during WWII addressed the group with “Honor Your Family’s History.”  These program participants and other Veteran’s who attended the ceremony are pictured above.
