SARASOTA, Fla. (April 22, 2016) – Tickets are on sale for this summer’s WPCampus 2016, a national conference of collegiate-based WordPress software users, scheduled at USF Sarasota-Manatee.

WordPress, a free and open-source content management system, is used on hundreds of campuses nationwide, including at USF Sarasota-Manatee, to manage their websites and blog postings.

WPCampus 2016 represents the inaugural conference of the WPCampus community, “a gathering of web professionals, educators and people dedicated to the confluence of WordPress in higher education,” according to the event’s website, https://2016.wpcampus.org/.

This community of collegiate WordPress users includes bloggers, content strategists, designers, social media managers and others. The conference, scheduled July 15-16, will provide an opportunity for the WPCampus community to share and learn about WordPress in the world of higher education. “Early-bird” tickets are on sale now for $99 at the event’s website, https://2016.wpcampus.org/.

“WPCampus is excited to partner with the University of South-Florida Sarasota-Manatee in order to provide an experience both affordable and relevant for higher education professionals,” WPCampus said in a statement.

The first day’s events are set 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and include a networking session, opening remarks, two breakout sessions, lunch and a social occasion.

The second day’s events, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., will feature networking, a keynote speech, two breakout sessions, lunch and closing remarks.

“As technology has become increasingly important to our society and to the world, USF Sarasota-Manatee is excited to welcome this conference to our campus and partner in this fantastic learning opportunity,” said Dennis Stover, regional vice chancellor for University Advancement.
