USF Sarasota-Manatee’s Institute for Public Policy and Leadership to host “Reinvent Yourself” workshops in North Port

The University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee’s Institute for Public Policy and Leadership (IPPL) will host “Reinvent Yourself” leadership workshops designed to “awaken your inner leader” in North Port on four consecutive Thursdays, February 19 and 24 and March 3 and 10 from 6:30 until 8:00 p.m.

This four-part Continuing Education workshop series will be held in a second floor classroom at USF Sarasota-Manatee’s North Port Instructional Site, located at 5920 Pan American Blvd.   The workshop is suitable for anyone who is interested in experiencing creativity, ease, and grace in formal or informal leadership roles.

Topics of the workshops are as follows:

  • February 19 – “Understanding the Human Experience.”  Participants will explore the foundations of individual leadership.
  • February 24 – “Separate Realities and States of Mind.”  Participants will learn the underlying reasons for disagreement and interpersonal misunderstandings.
  • March 3 – “Working from Strength, Alone and Together.”  This workshop will build on the fundamentals from the first workshop.  Participants will discuss and role-play case studies of leadership in action.
  • March 10 – “The Power of Vision and How to Share It.”  Participants will realize the power of each individual’s ability to think clearly, responsively, creatively and recognize the energy and capacity of leadership from within.

The facilitator for the events will be Judith Sedgeman, Ed.D., director of IPPL.  Dr. Sedgeman is an executive coach, seminar leader and program facilitator for professionals and organizations inside and outside of the university and is an internationally recognized speaker, seminar leader and teacher in the emerging field of Innate Health.  Presently she serves on the Board of Directors of Realize Bradenton and of Manatee Educational Television, as well as on the Health Committee of the Manatee Chamber of Commerce, the Government Issues Committee of the Sarasota Chamber of Commerce, and the Board of the Gulf Coast South Area Health Education Center (AHEC).

Participants must plan to attend all four workshops as the learning is cumulative.  The cost for the workshop series is $150.00 and participants will receive one Continuing Education unit at the completion of the series.  For a more complete description of the workshop and to register, visit http://www.sarasota.usf.edu/eps/ or call Donna Fitzpatrick-Conard at (941) 359-4774.
