USF Sarasota-Manatee to host "Government: A Help or a Hindrance?" this Thursday in North Port

On Thursday, September 23, 2010  from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. the University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee’s Institute for Public Policy and Leadership will present an event entitled “Government: A Help or Hindrance?” at the Olde World Cheese Shop in North Port.
Panelists Senator Nancy Detert (D-Venice), Ken Roberson (R-Port Charlotte), and Doug Holder (R-Sarasota) will discuss government regulation during times when government is expected to step up and regulate, such as during an oil spill, hurricane, or food disease epidemic.  They will also discuss how government can streamline regulations while still protecting the best interests of the average citizen.
