SARASOTA, Fla. (Sept. 29, 2016) USF Sarasota-Manatee is holding an open house for prospective freshmen on Saturday, Oct. 8, from 9 a.m. to noon at USFSM’s campus, 8350 N. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota.
The event, called “Freshman Preview Day,” includes campus tours and offers prospective students the chance to meet with representatives from Admissions, Financial Aid and Career Services, as well as from the campus’ four colleges: Business, Hospitality & Tourism Leadership, Liberal Arts & Social Sciences (including the School of Education) and Science & Mathematics.
The open house comes as USFSM is debuting exciting new programs and campus projects. Last month, USFSM unveiled a new Student Commons where students can study, exercise or simply socialize, and this semester the campus introduced its “Bridge to Engineering” program where engineering students can study at USFSM’s campus for two years before transferring to USF’s College of Engineering in Tampa to finish their studies.
Additionally, this spring the campus will debut a dual-enrollment program in partnership with the Sarasota County School District. Under this new program, juniors and seniors in Sarasota County public schools will be able to take classes at USFSM while earning college credit.
Students must demonstrate an unweighted grade point average of 3.5 or higher to participate. Prospective dual-enrollment students must also complete a USFSM non-degree online application form, submit a dual-enrollment approval form signed by their school administrators and provide proof of required minimum ACT or SAT scores: 500 for SAT Critical Reading and 500 for SAT Math, or 21 for ACT Reading and 21 for ACT Math.
