USF Sarasota-Manatee donates furniture to Manatee County Habitat for Humanity

The University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee recently made a donation of furniture to Manatee County Habitat for Humanity.  The furniture was excess inventory, no longer needed due to the acquisition of newer, more space efficient furniture and technology, and included desks, chairs, book cases and filing cabinets.  “This is just another way in which USF Sarasota-Manatee is able to help the community while achieving our goals of becoming a more sustainable institution,” said Rick Lyttle, Director of Facilities and Planning Management.  “During the past year, we’ve significantly reduced our energy footprint through the development of an ice storage chiller plant.  Donating recyclable items to a well-deserving charitable organization is another opportunity to do our part.”
