USF Sarasota-Manatee has scheduled two open houses for prospective students and their families. The first is an informational event on Thursday, March 27, from 5:30–7 p.m. at the USFSM North Port Instructional Site located at 5920 Pan American Blvd., North Port, Fla. 34287. A map is available here. To RSVP to this event, click here.
The second open house is Saturday, April 5, from 9–11 a.m. at the USF Sarasota Manatee campus, 8350 N. Tamiami Trail in Sarasota. At both sessions, attendees will receive a brief overview of attendance at USFSM, learn about more than 40 academic programs for freshmen, transfers and graduate students, as well as the admissions process, financial aid and other services. There will be complimentary food and beverages and facility tours. There will also be an opportunity to meet in small groups with the appropriate academic advisors to discuss prerequisites, transcripts and other details pertaining to individual programs of interest. Sign up for the April 5 open house here. A map is available here.
As an added bonus, both open houses will feature Instant Decision for freshmen, an exciting opportunity for on-the-spot acceptance for qualified high school applicants. To participate, apply online at www.usfsm.edu by March 25 for the North Port open house and by April 3 for Sarasota. Instant Decision also requires that applicants present a sealed copy of their high school transcript to an admissions counselor at the open house. Students should request that their ACT and/or SAT test scores are sent to USFSM, but they may also bring copies of their score reports that day, which will be used in making the acceptance decision.
Those who are admitted to USFSM during Instant Decision will receive an immediate admission letter, followed by a mailed acceptance packet. Any applicant not admitted during Instant Decision will be offered guidance on ways to strengthen their application before the final spring deadline. Financial Aid staff will help families complete their FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) and answer questions about the financial aid process.
