Staff Spotlight: Corry Farabee

Corry Farabee is the office manager for Technology Services. Having worked at USFSM for eight years, Corry walked us through what she loves most about her job, her dream vacation and more.

Walk us through an average workday.
Technology Services purchases technology for the campus, so a lot depends on the needs of the campus. I maintain the fiscal accounts of our department, payroll, travel, purchase orders; I receive and enter new technology equipment into inventory; I am the contact person for Zoom; and on occasion, I am a presence at the help desk.

What do you like most about your job?
I enjoy solving puzzles and organizing things, and in my position I get to do that.  I also get to see what most colleges and departments are doing with technology, so I feel connected to our community.

What’s the best thing about working at USFSM?
The people. I love the energy you feel when walking around campus and the interaction you can have with students, faculty and staff.

Tell us about yourself, where you’re from, where you grew up.
I was born in Michigan but raised in Sarasota.  I graduated from Eckerd College. I have two daughters. I work part-time for the YMCA, which is fun and gives me the opportunity to talk with young people about USFSM.

What do you like to do in your free time, on weekends?
I enjoy being outdoors; hiking, biking, kayaking, working in my yard or going to local festivals. I currently work with 1st graders at church, and they keep me on my toes.

Best moment in your life so far?
Wow so many, but probably seeing my girls graduate from law school and the police academy.
