It’s no secret that the Tampa Bay region is known as one of the best places to live in the country, boasting three great cities in close proximity: Tampa, St. Petersburg and Sarasota. But which one has the most to offer when it comes to a lifestyle filled with arts and culture, shopping, sports, beaches, and natural beauty? If you guessed it’s Sarasota, you’re right!
10 News polled residents of the Tampa Bay Area about which of the three cities was “the best of the bay,” and Sarasota came out the winner (video above). With 37.1 percent of the votes, Sarasota topped Tampa (31.6%) and St. Petersburg (30.8%) as the crown jewel of the Tampa Bay region.
What sets Sarasota apart from its neighbors to the north? It could be Siesta Key Beach, the number one ranked beach in the country according to Dr. Beach. Or is it the thriving visual and performing arts scene? Maybe it’s the combination of shopping, dining and nearby Lido Beach found only at St. Armand’s Circle? The USFSM Rowing Club would claim that Nathan Benderson Park, home to the 2017 World Cup Rowing Championships, is what puts Sarasota in the lead.
There is no doubt that USF Sarasota-Manatee and the other thriving higher education institutions in the neighborhood are also a major part of what makes Sarasota such a unique place to live and learn. When you blend fun, sun, arts and culture and impactful education, the results are unbeatable.
Count USFSM as a winning feature that contributes to Sarasota’s stature as “the best of the bay.”
