(Sarasota, Fla., Aug. 24, 2016) — The Consortium of Colleges on the Creative Coast (C4) welcomes more than 13,000 students from 46 states and 57 countries for the fall semester. About 2,500 students in Manatee and Sarasota counties are in college for the first time and nearly 1,000 of those are transfer students.

The higher-education community in Sarasota and Manatee counties, including New College of Florida, Ringling College of Art and Design, State College of Florida Manatee-Sarasota, the University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee and The Ringling/FSU, along with Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, offer an array of educational opportunities to launch students on future career and academic paths. Together, they continue to build a destination for academic and professional opportunities.

This academic year promises to be big, as Sarasota and Manatee colleges are seeing a record number of students. USF Sarasota-Manatee has more than 1,900 students, including 440 incoming freshmen and transfer students. Ringling College welcomes nearly 1,400 students, including more than 450 new and transfer students. New College has nearly 850 students and is expecting about 280 new and transfer students. SCF has enrolled more than 9,300 students, including about 1,750 first-time-in-college and dual-enrolled students.

The cooperation among the colleges offers students greater learning opportunities and helps to attract and retain students, a bonus for this college town as well as for the individual institutions.
