Greetings from Dr. Arthur Guilford

Happy New Year!  I hope each of you had a wonderful holiday break and were able to enjoy time with your family and friends.

2011 was a banner year for USFSM and I anticipate that 2012 will be even better!  The USF Board of Trustees approved the 2012-16 Strategic Plan, we will start admitting freshmen for Fall Semester 2013, and there will be a merger of Academic and Student Affairs in order to prepare for these changes.  Of course, we will need each and every one of you to assist with the implementation of the plans based on your role at our University, similar to the manner that everyone pulled together in gaining our separate SACS accreditation.  I have said it before and I truly believe that we are capable of big things here at USFSM due to your hard work and dedication.  Thank you for making this University the success that it is!

Students and faculty will be returning to campus next week for the start of Spring Semester on January 9th and Week of Welcome will be occurring in the main rotunda from the 10th through the 12th.  You may also notice that Perlman students are still on campus for the Perlman Music Program Suncoast Winter Residency.  They will be with us for the remainder of this week and the culmination of the Residency is the annual grand Celebration Concert at the Sarasota Opera House on Saturday, January 7 at 5PM.  If you are interested in purchasing tickets to the final concert, please click here.

I am looking forward to all of the things 2012 will hold for USFSM!  Go Bulls!
