Donor Makes Gift of a Van to College of Hospitality and Technology Leadership

Local businessman, philanthropist and restaurant investor Burton M. “Skip” Sack has donated a vehicle to the USF Sarasota-Manatee College of Hospitality & Technology Leadership. The 12-passenger 2013 Ford van will useful for a variety of educational programs, community outreach initiatives and special events, and for transporting visiting international students to the College’s Culinary Innovation Lab on Main St. in Lakewood Ranch.

Sack, a well-known donor to many arts and health and human service causes in Sarasota, has a special interest in helping veterans, particularly homeless veterans, who need stable housing, training and employment opportunities. A future project currently in development will take advantage of the van to bring veterans to the Culinary Innovation Lab for a specially designed food preparation certificate program aligned with jobs at area restaurants.
