Climate change symposium set Tuesday at USFSM

SARASOTA, Fla. (April 17, 2017) – Noted geologist and expert on sea-level rise Dr. Harold Wanless will discuss the consequences of climate change for Southwest Florida at the Suncoast Climate Change Symposium, scheduled Tuesday, April 18, at USF Sarasota-Manatee.

Dr. Wanless chairs the Department of Geological Sciences at the University of Miami and currently oversees a federal research project documenting hurricane impacts on coastal environments.

The symposium will include a presentation by Dr. Wanless followed by a question-and-answer session. Refreshments will be provided afterward. The event is sponsored by BDH Associates, LLC, headed by Sarasota resident Brian Hunter.

The event will run from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at USFSM’s Selby Auditorium, 8350 N. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota. Tickets are $15. The event is free with a valid student ID.
