SARASOTA, Fla. (Sept. 26, 2016) USF Sarasota-Manatee has sold out its Bulls Bistro dining events through 2016.
The dining experience debuted Sept. 8 at USFSM’s Culinary Innovation Lab on Main Street in Lakewood Ranch and proved to be an immediate hit.
Within two weeks of that sold-out event, which featured Spanish-inspired cuisine, craft beers and specialty wines, the remaining Bulls Bistros, scheduled Oct. 13, Oct. 27, Nov. 3 and Nov. 17, sold out as well.
“Positive word has certainly traveled fast, which is a good sign,” College of Hospitality & Tourism Leadership (CHTL) Instructor Joe Askren said. “Our instructors and students are enthusiastic about the success and are confident we can deliver on the challenge.”
The event is the creation of Dr. Patrick Moreo, dean of the college. Dr. Moreo launched the Bulls Bistro to reach out to the local community and help USFSM instructors and students showcase their culinary abilities.
Within days of advertising that first Bulls Bistro, the event sold out. Tickets at $20 each were sold online. Each Bull Bistro can accommodate up to 40 diners. The college is considering another round of Bulls Bistros for the spring semester and will post ticket and scheduling information as soon as that decision has been made.
“We are elated about the Bistro event’s early success,” Askren said. “Delivering a memorable experience to our guests, while providing a hands-on experience to our students, is our main objective.”
