Dr. Heather Duncan is the Coordinator of Clinical Education in the School of Education at the University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee. A native Floridian, she received her BA in Elementary Education, and her ME. in Special Education from the University of Florida.

She completed her PhD at the University of South Florida-Tampa in Curriculum and Instruction: Special Education, with an emphasis in Autism and Families. Dr. Duncan has worked as a special educator in K-12 schools, a Director of a school for students diagnosed with Autism, as well as an Assistant Professor and Program Coordinator for Special Education teacher preparation programs in California. She has been teaching part-time for USF since 2006.

Research

Dr. Duncan’s research publications and conference presentations involve the lived experiences of culturally and linguistically diverse families raising a child with Autism, Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and the self-efficacy of pre-service teachers.
